Tablature (I do not use)
This is an image of guitar tablature in which numbers represent frets.
Please do not confuse tablature with chord symbols and diagrams which I do use.
Music Notation

This is a lead sheet in standard notation with chord symbols.

These are used to draw patterns found on the guitar neck.
Sometimes people confuse this with tablature, but they are not the same.

This is a “chord chart.” Chord symbols are used for a variety of reasons

Because of certain websites, many people incorrectly call this “Tab.” Please note that this is not tablature, and that in some cases, especially with singers and beginners, this format makes sense.
