About Lessons
I specialize in jazz guitar, improvisation, music theory, composition and songwriting. But my lessons are geared toward reaching the goals of my students. Individual goals vary greatly from person to person and as a result, my lessons are crafted differently for each individual. At your first lesson, we will discuss your goals; if I can help you, we will make a plan and get to work together.
During the process, my students work on their fundamental knowledge of the guitar and music in general. This includes reading music (not tablature), music theory, scales studies, chord studies, ear training, etc. We then attempt to combine these studies with your individual goals wherever possible. There are endless possibilities of how your lessons could unfold and I look forward to exploring them with you.

Teaching Style and Philosophy
There’s nothing wrong with guitar lessons that skip the “hard stuff.” But it’s worth noting that these lessons are not like that. These lessons require practice and are best for those who want to understand things and not just memorize things; to make new music and not just copy music.
With an abundance of guitar instructors to choose from, you should find someone that’s right for you; I only offer myself. But while my lessons might be considered “formal lessons” they are also relaxed, friendly and tend to come with a lot of laughs. What's most important to me is that you are gaining something from your lessons and that you continue to grow musically.
